“What began as a Vision has evolved into something more. I’m grateful of where I’ve been and even more excited for what’s ahead.”
Brooke E. Jones - Founder and Executive Director
Brooke Jones is the Founder and Executive Director of Karson’s Gift, a Connecticut based non-profit dedicated to supporting families navigating the complexities of pregnancy and infant loss, NICU stays and the journey after discharge.
Brooke’s journey into advocacy began nearly eight years ago with the birth of her first son at 27 weeks. After navigating a four month NICU stay and the challenging transition home, she recognized a critical gap in the long term support systems available to NICU grad families. Following the tragic loss of her second son at 25 weeks who was stillborn, she transformed her personal grief into a mission for systemic change.
Recognizing that no family should have to navigate trauma or bereavement in isolation, Brooke established Karson’s Gift to provide the resources, community, and advocacy families need to heal. With a focus on lived experience and holistic support, her mission is to be the change she once needed providing a steady hand for families as they navigate grief and reconstruct their lives after trauma.
A Commitment to Advocacy
Brooke believes that personal experience is a powerful catalyst for professional advocacy. Her work is fueled by the strength of the community she serves, and she remains deeply embedded in the systems she seeks to improve. She advocates for family centered care and systemic support through her leadership, service, and volunteering with several key organizations:
Yale Community Advisory Board (PCORI): Collaborating on patient centered outcomes research.
Connecticut Parent Advocacy Center (CPAC): Serving as a Parent Leader to empower families navigating educational and developmental systems.
The Tiny Miracles Foundation: Contributing to the support network for families of premature babies in Fairfield and New Haven Counties.
Yale New Haven Hospital: Serving on both the NICU Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) and the Women’s PFAC, ensuring the family voice is central to hospital policy and care.
Through Karson’s Gift, Brooke continues to bridge the gap between hospital care and home life, ensuring that every family feels seen, supported, and empowered.
